Having a great football academy will be beneficial for both football clubs and nation, such as building a new star player, not spending more money on expensive player, and finally having future football club or national team  with many achievement from  players from their youth academy.

Football academy have a many benefits to club or national team who focus on developing their academy. They can have new star player without buy from other team, can help club finance with selling the player from youth academy and then the club and national team may get many achievement in the future. So, the club or national team who focus to developing their football academy like investor who investment on the stock. Because the result of investment always in the future.

        Benefits From Having A Great Football Youth Academy

        Nowadays, there are many clubs which spend a big amount of money to buy some new players. Like Real Madrid, Manchester United and City, Chelsea, PSG and many other big teams. It’s not  prohibited to buy expensive players. But, how about the mid-bottom teams which don’t have big money to buy a new player, and more important is that the national team will not  have a good player because their club don’t focus on developing football youth academy. Before I tell the benefits from having a great football academy, I want to tell you what the youth academy is it? Football academy is a place to train and develop young players become a professional football players in the future. Some football academy are well known in the world, like Barcelona with La Masia who created Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, Cesc Fabregas and many more players. And then Ajax academy which helps many players like Luis Suarez, Clarence Seedorf,  Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, Frank Rijkaard and still many other players who graduate from Ajax academy. And how about Indonesia? Indonesia actually has many talents in football, but the youngster find it hard to develop the star player because facilities in a football academy in Indonesia is only average, but if PSSI focus on developing the youth academy, and building a good academy, it’s not impossible to Indonesia to create many star players. From the example above, having a great football academy will benefit both the club and national team. Such as build a new star players, will advantages the club finance because they are don’t need to buy a expensive player even they can get revenue from selling players from the youth academy, and finally in the future football club or national team can get many achievement from using players from having a great football academy.

        First, with the great youth academy, clubs can create a new star player from the young player. To search any players who have the potential to become a star player, clubs should have a good scouting program. Because, good scout, with their capability, can find the young players who have a talent, skills, and potential. Not only scout who have a ‘feeling; with the wonder kid players. Sometimes, Managers or Coach club also have a good feeling to find wonderkid. We know how Sir Alex Ferguson can find the talent of Cristiano Ronaldo? So, how about Cristiano Ronaldo career nowadays? He can get 2 trophies Ballon D’or (best players award of the world), become the highest transfer value from Manchester United to Real Madrid (until broken by Gareth Bale). And the last season, Paul Pogba whose the talent was ignored by Manchester United can show his shine with Juventus and become a young best player in FIFA World Cup 2014. That is the example how important to have a good scouting or manager in finding the wonder kids. And then, to make good football academy the club should have good facilities too. Like a pitch, gym, the players can get good nutrition , and the important thing is giving a chance to play with the senior team in which the youngster can get the experience.

        Second,  football academy will help the clubs especially mid-lower club in their finance. For example Southampton. Soton (nickname from Southampton) is one team whose a great academy in England. There are many players from Soton academy who have high value, like Gareth Bale (the expensive player in the world), Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain,   Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw and so on. By selling the players who shaped in their academy with the high prices, is not surprised if now Southampton has a better financial condition than Southampton 5 years ago.

        Third, it is possible to get the achievement by using players from the academy. For example, Barcelona. Barcelona in 2009 got the 6 titles in the one season. More amazingly, in their starting line up there are 7-8 players from La Masia (Barcelona academy) such as Valdes, Pique, Puyol, Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta, Messi, and Pedro. And then, Germany also get the benefits from developing their football academy. Germany won the World Cup 2014 with the young squad. There are only 2 players in their squad who are  above 30 years of age. In the beginning, in Euro 2000 Germany failed to pass the group phase. So, after that tournament, DFB (association football of Germany) focus on building a good youth academy. Finally, Germany tasted the sweet moment after focusing on developing the academy.

        From the explanation we can conclude that if clubs or national teams focus on developing their football academy, they will get many benefits from it. We can’t say that it is a bad way to  buy expensive players every transfer window. It depends on the club philosophy. Real Madrid is one of the many teams that always buy new players every year. But, they also have a good youth academy. Juan Mata, Alvaro Negredo, Morata are the ones who graduated from Castilla (Real Madrid academy), but they can’t find place to play with Real Madrid, because Real  prefer to buy a new player than try players from their academy.  Building a great football academy will give many benefits for the clubs or national teams. They do not need to spend a lot of money to buy good players every season and in the long run both clubs and national team can get better achievement not only nationally but also internationally. Youth football academy surely is a solution to create world class players.
