Article Review : Invest Time for Your Children

The article of the article reviewed is “Invest Time for Your Children”. This article is written by Lucia Tangkilisan. When I was read a title of article and beginning paragraph of article, I was immediately interested what author would say about the effect which happened to the children if they don’t have a time with their parents because both parents are employed. This mean, money cannot shape the children characteristic, although with the lot of money which earn by his or her parents the children can get an expensive toy, good clothes, good meal and many more.

            The article is about an important parents time with their children. There are two condition which mentioned in this article, first the parents who give too much freedom to their children and the second condition is the parents who feel they have unlimited freedom to do whatever they wish. In the first condition, the children can have too much freedom by their parents because their parents are focused on their jobs so they do not have enough time for children. So, the children can easily fall victim such as smoking, consuming liquors and narcotics, or free sex. On the other hand, parents overly strict (blind discipline) can tend to their children to become rebellious if there is a chance to get free from such blind discipline. The parents should know to treat their children, they needs to be balance between discipline and love. Love without discipline is a good way to spoil a child. And discipline without love is will fertilize hypocrisy in family life.

            The objective of the writer in this article is to share his knowledge to the readers especially the parents how to treat the children correctly. The writer wants parents to have balanced between love and discipline, because of that if the children understand that they are loved so that the children can respect family rule and discipline, then the parents must not hurt the children feeling because it can lead rebellion when they grow up. The content of the article is very important to the parents who have children and it can educated the to educate their children. The language used in article is for adults readers which difficult to understand. The style of the narration is informative and it is inform to parents what they should do so that quiet difficult to youngers readers to comprehend. To conclude, this article is suitable to be read by adults who have children to realize how treat the children and it is  also not suitable for the youngers readers.
